UTPA pharmacy students joined local hospitals and pharmacists in celebrating American Pharmacists Month by organizing a free community health fair. The event not only benefited residents seeking its services, but also the UTPA students who are pursuing a career in the pharmacy profession.
Those soon to graduate from UTPA / UT Austin Cooperative Pharmacy are preparing to enter the workforce and what better way to get the training they need than by treating real patients. The pharmacy students participated in a community health fair at Saenz Pharmacy in Mission where they had the opportunity to administer free flu shots, as well as blood pressure, cancer, diabetes and hypertension screenings to dozen of people. They also helped answer questions attendees had about their medications.
