After years of silence, two men are coming out and filing a lawsuit against the Knights of Columbus claiming sexual abuse from a former Brownsville Knights of Columbus leader.
Hector Stone, 42, grew up in Brownsville and was a member of the Squires of Columbus.
"I've been living in silence, and I was going to take this to my grave. Julian Rivera sexually abused me for six years from the ages of 12 through 18 years old," said Hector Stone.
Stone and his lawyer are not filing a lawsuit against Juan Rivera.
"The cases were filed yesterday in federal court against the headquarters of the Knights of Columbus alleging that they were negligent," said Jeffrey Herman.
Stone claims these sexual incidents happened in the 1970's and 1980's.
"One of the reason's that they are coming forward at this time in their lives is number one that they want to finally get help, no more suffering in silence, they have reached a point where they want to confront these demons, number two they want other children protected so this doesn't happen again," said Herman.
Stone claims during the abuse he was drugged, given alcohol and sometimes threatened with a weapon.
"It's time for me to stop healing from this, my family and my whole life has been affected by this," said Stone.
We went to the home of Rivera and spoke to a man we believe to be Rivera from his vehicle. He said he wants to speak to a lawyer before he'll comment and to not believe everything you hear.
