The holiday season is here but retail sales are seeing a record drop.
According to the Commerce Department, it's not looking to festive for the retail industry.
Santa Claus is in town.
Holiday decorations are up, which means it's retail's peak shopping season.
This year some shoppers are forced to cut back on their shopping.
Liliana Velazquez with the Sunrise Mall says they are still confident that sales will be steady this year because, they say, being a border retail center they get a lot of business coming from Mexico.
Just in case to keep numbers up they are using marketing tools by giving coupon books and the retail stores are offering great sales deals.
