Dozens of McAllen police officers were out shopping for toys as part of a program called Christmas of Kids and is in conjunction with local hospitals and the City of McAllen.
This is the 8th year taking part in the program from stuffed toys to dolls for the girls. It seemed almost every toy was being purchased at the Walgreens off of Trenton and 10th street. All the toys will be given to children whose families can't afford a Christmas gift. The McAllen police department estimates about 6,000 kids will be given a present on December 18th.
