An overnight robbery in McAllen turned deadly. A Florida man is behind bars after being accused of gunning down a homeowner. The shooting took place around 9:30 last night at the 3400 block of Ulex Avenue. According to officials, the man waited for 48-year-old, Alberto Marin, to get home and commit the robbery. EMS transported Marin to a local hospital but he did not survive his injuries.
Witnesses say they heard several shots fired, but police have not said how many times the victim was shot. It’s also unknown if the shooter robbed anything at all, or if anyone else was involved. What Rodriguez has said is that the robbery was not a random act; the 48-year-old was targeted. Police are not identifying the suspect at this time as police continue the murder investigation.
“The reason he's a person of interest is because of some information that led to his detention.”
He was seen in the area around the same time the shooting took place. The suspect was arrested late last night and faces charges of capital murder. Police are questioning more witnesses and are also looking for others who may have been involved. This case is the second murder of the year for the city of McAllen.
