Incumbent Carlos Cascos is firing back after the Elections Administration has decided to only recount ballots in Precinct 54 for the Cameron County Judge race.
Cascos released this statement to the press, "Due to this decision, the actions of Roger Ortiz's staff that took place outside the purvey of the official recount, and the considerable number of irregularities that occurred during the recount process that were allowed by Mr. Ortiz, I am rendering a number of affidavits."
Cascos has rendered nine affidavits from people saying they were witnesses. The papers will go to the District Attorney's Office, Secretary of State and the Texas Attorney General's Office for guidance and possible criminal investigations. One of the affidavit's accuses the election administrator of violating the Texas election code.
In the affidavit, John Chambers says " I observed the elections administrator Roger Ortiz rule against early vote ballots and cancel the votes in violation of the Secretary of State's instructions on the conduct of the recount as the election administration gave them to me."
