The shooting happened in a neighborhood on Buck drive, where two suspects came up to 28 year-old Luis Ramirez who was shot and flown to a hospital in San Antonio.
The two suspects were caught later in the night and made an appearance in court on Tuesday. 17 year-old Jaime Perez and 19 year-old Mariela Torres were the ones who did the drive-by shooting off of Buck drive in Edinburg and now face aggravated assault charges with a deadly weapon.
Sheriff deputies say Luis Ramirez was shot multiple times and happens to be a Chicano gang member. The duo, who are members of another gang, confessed to sheriff deputies that they shot Ramirez because they were retaliating for a different drive-by shooting that they say Ramirez did weeks ago in their neighborhood.
Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino says they are investigating if that's true. The driver of the car, Mariela Torres, was given a $25,000 bond and Jaime Perez's bail was set at $50,000 dollars.
