Students at South Texas College were on hand for the raising of the flag ceremony in McAllen on Thursday.
Local students were honored, those currently serving on duty and those who passed away, while at war. There was a moment of silence and a brief speech by a former student who served in World War II. Campus officials wanted to let student veterans know that they are there to support them.
At the campus Student Union, the Veterans Affairs Program showcased soldier students who died while serving. More than a dozen STC students have been killed on the front lines of duty.
