These devices keep us connected now, more than ever, that's why the University of Texas is implementing a new emergency texting alert system to supplement their other emergency alerts on campus. Many of the students are in favor of the instant text message alert.
A freshman says that last week, when an email was sent out over the Matamoros violence, he didn't even know what was going on because he hadn't logged on to his email for a few days. With text message alerts, he say's the instant notification will keep him and other students up to date with the latest information.
