Wednesday night one by one new members were sworn in.
First was Dr. Christina Saavedra who will sit on the position 1 seat. "It was very exciting, very emotional a lot of hard work, we need to look at ways we can strengthen our schools and work on the dropout where we can lower it completely." Then Luci Longoria who will sit on position 4. "I am a strong believer in working together not against each other that's the best way to go and my priority are the students, the educators, and of course the district."
Enrique Escobedo who sat as former the position 1 was sworn in as position 2 after defeating Rueben Cortez Jr.Catalina Presas-Garcia was named president of the board. She says she wants to see the board move forward in the right direction after issues in the past including the termination of a superintendant and legal issues. "As a board we look to move forward in this district in a different way, for 2 years we were struggling and it's time we move forward and bring new things to the board for the sake of the students education which should be our priority."
