The father of the little girl, whose finger was cut off while going down a slide, is speaking out about the incident, Josh Navarro has more.
An emotional father's reaction when he first saw his little girls left ring finger cut off, while sliding down a slide at Witten Park. Now, 5 year-old Summer Gutierrez's hand is wrapped up in bandages since that little finger had to be amputated by doctors, her father Adrian Gutierrez, remembers that night very vividly.
It was suppose to be a day of fun for Summer at her kindergarten class and it would have been her first day of taking part of Halloween festivities and handing out candy to her classmates. Instead she spent it at the hospital and that's why her father believes it's the city's fault for having hazardous playground equipment in the park.
The City of Pharr is still trying to gather information from the family and released a statement, "The City of Pharr wants to be responsive and be helpful to the needs of the family." NewsCenter 23 was on location when two slides were removed from the playground, but a painful memory will not be forgotten.
The mother of Summer is still emotional from what happened and was asked to look strong by doctors to help her little daughter get through this and wasn't able to comment on camera.
