Florida animal shelter can't find a home for 172 lb. pooch.
A Florida animal shelter is looking for someone with a big heart to adopt a big dog.
Luke is the largest dog ever brought into the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast.
Workers at the Palm City shelter had to do some rearranging to get Luke into a pen big enough for his 172-pound frame.
The lab/mastiff mix was turned in by his former owner because the elderly man could no longer afford to care for him.
A dog Luke's size means larger medical bills and a lot more dog food.
"We actually feed him about three cups in the morning and then he gets another three cups in the evening," says Andrea Knicely, a Humane Society worker. "Then we mix that in with some wet food so he really gobbles that up pretty quick. He loves it."
Luke also loves other animals, making a good companion pet for anyone who has the space.
The Humane Society has dozens of other dogs in all sizes, all ready to be adopted.
