It was another busy morning for La Joya police, chasing down criminals after they received a call stating that there was about five cars loading up with drugs between Sullivan City and La Joya.
Police spotted a red truck that was loaded with the drugs and tried to stop it along Four Mile road around 6:30 AM on Wednesday, but as in most cases the criminal refused and the high speed chase began. In this case though as the truck makes a sharp turn into a subdivision, an accomplice driver awaits and then it flashes infront of the police car. It diverted the officer from continuing the chase after the red truck and Police Chief Jose Del Angel says that these criminals are using all kinds of tactics so that they can escape from police and continue their illegal operation.
The chase continued down the road passing a school bus and then the officer loosing sight of the truck, but with help from the Border Patrol chopper, officers were able to locate the red truck behind an elementary school off of Tom Gill road, but no suspect was found. Police were able to find 739 pounds of marijuana in the truck and the secondary truck involved in the chase was never found.
