People across the nation are standing up against bullying by wearing purple on Wednesday and in McAllen, school officials are also joining the fight for a zero tolerance policy, Joangel Concepcion brings us the story.
The recent suicide of a Rutgers University student, caused by cyber bullying, has once again drawn national attention to the issue. The McAllen school district is taking the issue very seriously, to make sure something like this never happens to any of their students.
The McAllen school district received the Safe Schools Healthy Students Grant which the money was awarded to create programs targeting violence, drug use and bullying. Another way the school district is addressing the issue is through bullying prevention kick-offs. Many schools in McAllen have gone as far as to hold presentations to spot light the dangers of cyber bullying.
