It happened Sunday afternoon when police say a man went up to a teller at the IBC Bank located inside the Wal-Mart on Boca Chica Boulevard, handed over a note, demanding cash.
"The teller complied with the demands and placed the money inside a reusable bag that was provided by the robber."
Once the teller gave the robber an undisclosed amount of money, he fled in a white or grey Buick Lesabre.
Authorities say the man is described as a Hispanic male in his late 20's to early 30's, about 5’7 tall, weighs between 165-200 pounds, has a goatee, wears glasses and has an important characteristic on one of his wrists.
"He might have a tattoo on his left wrist."
For bank tellers, police advise you not to play hero if you're ever involved in a similar situation. Instead, you should comply with the robber's demands but be very observant.
"Be cooperative and try to get as much information as possible, like in this case. Description of the individual, any characteristics of the individual will definitely help in the identification of these people."
Anyone with information, you're urged to call Brownsville’s Crime Stoppers at: 546-8477.
