Texas politician issues emotional statement of support to gay teens.
A Texas City councilman is speaking out in support of gay teens.
During a city council meeting in Fort Work last week Joel Burns, who is openly gay, shared his ordeals as a bullied school boy after learning about several gay teens who had recently committed suicide.
Burns called for an end to bullying in Fort Worth schools and told any that may be listening that "it gets better".
His comments were later posted on YouTube as part of the "It Gets Better" project, a compilation of video essays offering encouragement to gay and lesbian teens.
