Comedy Central host testifies at immigration and farm labor hearing.
Comedian and TV host Stephen Colbert brought his usual sarcasm and humor to the serious issue of illegal farm workers on Capitol Hill today.
The Comedy Central host of "The Colbert Report" brought a media swarm with him.
Colbert is fresh off Thursday night's episode showing him packing corn and picking beans on a farm as part of a challenge from a pro-immigrant-labor group.
He was asked to appear before the committee to relate his experiences.
Colbert had submitted a straight-forward copy of his testimony but delivered his remarks in character, although he made some serious statements about the need for immigration reform.
He called his experience in the fields "really, really hard" and said it gave him some understanding of why Americans don't seek out seasonal jobs mostly held by migrant workers.
