Schools in Brownsville and Harlingen are still scheduled to stay open for classes.
The Brownsville School District and Harlingen Consolidated School District continued to monitor situations, but as of right now, no classes are being canceled. Brownsville Mayor Pat Ahumada plans to meet with school district authorities on Thursday to decide whether to shut down schools for the safety of students. The Mayor says he is asking Matamoros parents whose children attend private schools in Brownsville to take precautions.
The Mayor wants these Matamoros parents to voluntarily keep their children home until Monday.
