Boy escapes after parents lock him in chains.
A father and stepmother are accused of chaining their son to a kitchen table for two days, releasing him only to sleep, eat and use the restroom.
Police in Sacramento, California say they learned of the abuse when the boy escaped the home Friday night and was seen walking down a street chained at his wrists, ankles and neck, asking for help.
Police said the father, John Vang, 40, chained his son as punishment for misbehaving and the stepmother, Thong Vue, 34, did nothing to stop the abuse.
They are facing charges of false imprisonment and cruelty to a child.
The boy was arrested Wednesday, police said, and his father chained him as punishment for his behavior.
"Back on Wednesday, he was arrested for breaking into a relative's house. And when he got out the dad was upset, had taken him home and as punishment had chained him," Sgt. Norm Leong said.
