Crack, Cocaine, Guns and bullets and even a syringe with an unknown substance made up the assortment of drugs Indian Lake Police found today stashed at this home. Police arrested Raul Alcozer and Belinda Cavazos both in their fifties. They also searched and confiscated this Ford SUV and a motorcycle.
Chief John Chambers says he suspects the two could've been selling drugs from this home for years to people in the Indian Lake, Los Fresnos, Laureles and San Benito area. The couple did not resist arrest.
"Today we asked for assistance to search this home and another inside the house we found quite an amount of narcotics packaged for distribution, weapons and vehicles that they were using to distribute the narcotics," Chambers said.
Chambers said a second home just down the road was also searched, but that turned up nothing.
But residents in the area were shocked to find out that there was an operating drug house just down the road from their homes and in an area they consider peaceful.
Ramon Valdez said, "well there's never been nothing like that."
With his grandchildren living here, this Vietnam Veteram, said he is glad the drug house was closed for business.
"Yeah, because I mean we are good neighbors here you know, and we want peace and all that here and with that kind of people we're not going to be peaceful," Valdez said.
Chief Chambers said that by cutting off this drug source, he hopes to see a reduction in other crimes in the area.
"You deal with the thefts and burglaries that go along with (drugs). People that are addicted to drugs - we have a very large problem with thefts and burglaries so people can have money to purchase illegal narcotics," Chambers said.
