Business week study dubs Louisiana the "laziest state".
When it comes to taking it easy, a new study shows the Bayou State does it best.
That's according to a new ranking by BusinessWeek.com.
The study measures how residents spend their free time.
According to the research, Louisianians spend an awful lot of time being inactive.
That includes watching more television, getting more sleep and socializing.
One researcher at Pennington Biomedical Center says part of the problem is access to fitness areas.
"Physical activity is something that should be easy to do," says exercise biologist Dr. Conrad Earnest. "You shouldn't have to work for it, and I find in this state it really becomes more laborious to try and exercise or be physically active on a regular basis."
Not everyone agrees with the findings.
Officials with the Governor's Council on Fitness say there are a number of programs in the works to fight obesity in the state.
North Dakota is ranked the most active state in the country.
