Uncle accused of giving vodka to little girl.
An El Reno, Oklahoma man is behind bars after he allegedly gave his 6-year-old niece vodka.
According to investigators, Daniel Magpie III mixed the alcohol with soda and allowed the girl to drink from his cup until she became unresponsive.
After being rushed a to a local hospital by her grandparents, doctor's determined that her blood alcohol level was at .20, two times the legal limit for an adult.
"A small stature and that blood alcohol level can be extremely toxic," said El Reno Police Chief Ken Brown.
Experts say the average 6-year-old would have to consume nearly a pint of vodka to a get blood alcohol level that high.
"Oh that's very dangerous; you get into concerns of alcohol poisoning when you start damaging a brain that young of an age, that's going to affect you later on in school, your cognitive, your personality, your motor skills," said Dr. Gary Parker with Mercy Hospital.
The victim has been placed in protective custody.
Magpie is also facing a charge of possession after investigators found traces marijuana in his room.
