As the water continues to be diverted towards the Laguna Madre, cities like Weslaco are now dealing with floods. A section of FM-1015 is now closed off to drivers as flood waters reached the road, making it undriveable.
The city began to deal with the water last week and although local officials say they haven't seen much change in water levels, last night brought more water than expected. Despite minor levee problems in Weslaco, officials don't expect major increase in flooding. However, officials are worried about the potential rain that's headed to our region this week.
City leaders say no one is at risk at this time but advise everyone to be careful and obey road closures, because if you don't, you could end up in jail or dead.
