U.S. and Mexican authorities teamed up to corner a group of suspected drug smugglers on Tuesday.
Border Patrol spokesman, John Lopez says U.S. agents caught the men in the morning, but had tried to pick up the men near the Hidalgo/Reynosa International bridge but the men drove off and into the Rio Grande river. The accomplices on the Mexican side helped the suspected smugglers get the car across the river, but Mexican police caught some of them and seized the bundles of marijuana.
Four men got away and attempted to swim back to the U.S. side, but Border Patrol agents took them into custody for attempting to illegally enter teh United States.
