Gilberto Garza appeared before a judge at the Brownsville Police station charged with murder.
Garza's bond was set at one million dollars. Police at 28 Cowan Terrace an apparent domestic voliend took place between Garza and his estranged wife at around midnight on Sunday. During the alleged incident the wife's friend Ruth Salcedo came over to try to help. Police say when Salcedo arrived the wife was able to get away but Garza kept Salcedo in the home and stabbed her.
Police say Garza stabbed Salcedo more than 10 times. Garza was on the run since Sunday and police were able to find him Tuesday night at 28 Cowan Terrace.
Garza has been transferred to the Cameron County Jail and remains there under a million dollar bond. The DA's office says his charge maybe upgraded to Capital Murder.
