Customs and Border Protection officials say the threat of hurricane Alex nearing the Rio Grande Valley last week decreased the number of travelers coming in through the port of entries, but after the Fourth of July holiday weekend, things seem to be getting back to normal, Daisy Martinez has the story.
Candelaria Ramirez was just one of the many travelers crossing into the United States at the Hidalgo port of entry bordering the Mexican City of Reynosa and was on her way back from China, Nuveo Leon. Motorist also waited in line to cross into the United States, which was a good sign of things getting back to business. Spokesperson Felix Garza says the travelers were coming from different parts of Mexico.
He also mentioned that there has been some travelers crossing from Mexico looking to escape from the damage and chaos that hurricane Alex caused near the City of Monterrey, Mexico. CBP officials say travelers should be ready to declare any items they are bringing with them and have the required documentation handy to make crossing the border a faster and pleasant experience.
