Travel in Texas is expected to go up this Fourth of July weekend, Na'Tassia Finley has more on Brownsville residents hitting the road and others making special trips into the area this holiday weekend.
Texans are gassing up their cars and hitting the highway and officials with Triple A say they don't believe the rain associated with Hurricane Alex will affect the 2.43 million Texans are planning to take a trip this holiday. Last year only 2.12 million Texans traveled over the Independence Day holiday, but this weekend Texans traveling during the holiday are projected to spend an average of $981 dollars.
Even though prices at the pump are sightly higher than last years, it doesn't seem to matter to those drivers looking to get away.
