Now that hurricane season has started, the City of Edinburg opened the doors to it's new emergency operations center on Tuesday. The $1 million dollar state of the art facility is located on McIntyre street and was funded through a grant from FEMA. Inside the center there are monitors, video projection screens, wireless Internet, voice and data technology, sleeping quarters and showers. Mayor Richard Garcia say Edinburg was the only city or county in Texas to be awarded the grant. Hurricane season began on June st and ends November 30th.
