The violence along the border continues and Mexico's army will take over the local police force in Ciudad Juarez.
The army helped stop a deadly prison riot on Wednesday in its widening war against drug gangs. Twenty prisoners died and five were injured when a fight broke out between three rival gangs on Wednesday morning. Around 200 anti-riot police and soldiers rushed in and regained control of the prison three hours after it started.
Authorities are investigating why the rival gangs were in the same area, a violation of their polices. Soldiers poured into the city this week to restore order after 250 people died in February feuds between drug cartels.
