Parents are reacting to news about a Mission Consolidated School District nurse who resigned after bringing a gun onto school grounds, Michelle Macias has the story.
It's an incident no one wants to be in, but for the Mission C.I.S.D., it's one they had to deal with on Thursday. A school nurse took a gun to Mission High School and was showing it off after allege purchasing that day. When school officials learned about the matter, they decided to place Veronica Saenz on administrative leave pending an investigation, but Saenz resigned instead. Even though the gun was not loaded Mission police say Saenz could be charged with exhibition of firearms or places where weapons are prohibited. Texas penal code 46.03, which states a person cannot possess a firearm on educational institutions, could be charged to Saenz by police.
The school district will continue their security plan as usual and looking at measures to improve the security for students and staff.
