Brownsville Mayor Pat Ahumada and Matamoros Mayor Eric Silva along with other local officials met at the halfway point of the Gateway International bridge on Thursday to officially kick-off Charro Days.
Elementary school students from both sides of the border exchanged their country's flags as a sign of unity between both countries. This years Mr. Amigo was also at the event along with Cuban actor Francisco Gattorno. Charro Days started 72 years ago uniting Brownsville and Matamoros.
It's a yearly celebration that brings together life on the border along with the rich culture and history.
