The Hidaglo County Sheriff's Department say the person who called in a bomb threat at the county courthouse is now behind bars because of new technology, Michelle Macias has the details about his arraignment.
Javier Perez is suspected of calling in a bomb threat to the Hidalgo County Courthouse last week causing the evacuation of the courthouse and having law enforcement search the building for the bomb for three hours. Perez was arrested on Saturday by tracing the cell number and the location tower closest to the user when in the call was made. Law enforcement says that Perez is no stranger to authorities and also confessed to making the call out of frustration. He is a registered sex offender and has been arrested for burglaries, theft, drug possession and indecency with a child.
Perez was charged with making a terroristic threat and given a $75,000 dollar bond by the judge. If convicted, he could face 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 dollar fine.
