A Border Patrol Agent was arrested and charged for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a minor, by Cameron County Sheriff's Deputies.
Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio says, no matter who it is, sex with a minor will not be tolerated.
35-year old, Border Patrol Agent, Francisco Villanueva is now behind bars.
He's accused of having an on-going sexual relationship with a teen, more than half his age.
Sheriff Lucio says, "He had been a friend of the families, he was a friend of the father and would stop by on many different occassions."
The Sheriff says, the 14-year old girl's mom came to them, with accusations against the agent.
She says, Villanueva was a friend of the family's.
Sheriff Lucio says, the family started to get suspicious after she ran away a year ago.
They then found, her diary, which they say...told it all....
"Like a diary, and notes and that's when they discovered this was going on."
In a written statement from Chief Border Patrol agent, Ronald Vitiello, says, they are fully cooperating with all law enforcement agencies, as they continue this investigation.
Vitiello says, any border patrol agent who breaks the law, will be held accountable for their actions.
Villanueva now faces charges for criminal solicitation of a minor, and engaging in sexual acts.
His total bond is set at 50 thousand dollars.
Child Protective Services was made aware of all this and
the teen was taken to a local children's advocacy center.
As for, Villanueva, he's currently on administrative leave with pay, while they investigate.
He has been an agent for nine years.
