A man in Harlingen is behind bars and charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping and police say one of the victims was his common-law-wife, Daisy Martinez has the story.
Police say it happened at a home on the 100th block of Hurst street when officers responded to a disturbance call at the home. Upon arrival, two females, one being Abundez's common-law-wife, told officers that they had been held against their will in a room for over an hour. Abundez's mother tells NewsCenter 23 that the charges against her son were exaggerated, but police say he held his wife at knife point and attempted to strangle her. Abundez was charged with aggravated kidnapping assault, family violence, resisting arrest and simple assault with his bond totaling to $77,700 dollars. Abundez's wife received medical attention, but not seriously injured.
