Court cost continue to mount higher in the trial and re-trial of accused child killer John Allen Rubio with Cameron county taxpayers paying for more than $300,000 dollars for the trial. Now Hidalgo county taxpayers could be paying up to $100,000 dollars for the re-trial. Rubio is accused of murdering his common law wife's three children in March of 2003. Although he was convicted of the crime in November of 2003 his conviction was overturned, by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, because of the prosecutions use of video taped testimony by Rubio's common law wife. His re-trial is scheduled to start in Hidalgo in May.
