RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — In today's "Take the High Ground Hurricane Preparedness Report, a simple tip if you do plan on sheltering in place in the event of a hurricane.
FEMA Region 6 Dept. Director, Patricia Mancha states, "Often times people who get hurt during an event, and it may not just be a hurricane, it may be a tornado, it may be high winds, are the people who are impaled by flying debris. So it's never a good idea to stand at a window and check out the weather. Look for another room that has no windows, that has a door where you can close, that can keep you as safe as possible."
