BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Today marked the groundbreaking for a new four-story parking garage in Brownsville.
Crews are in the process of constructing the parking garage, which is in its final phase.
The garage are for people coming in and out of the terminal, administrative staff, and anyone who would like to visit downtown Brownsville.
City officials believe this will help bring an influx of traffic downtown, making it more accessible to people on all forms of transportation.
"When we build these, we utilize the sidewalks, the ability to use bicycles as well," said Brownsville city manager Charlie Cabler. "And that's what we want to bring. The ability to be able to utilize all forms of transportation."
"It provides both parking for people that are wanting to come downtown, and it will also make it easier for them to navigate through the streets and be able to see what we have to offer downtown," said B Metro Director Norma Zamora.
