Continuing violence across the border reaches its third day in a row with the latest shooting reported in Matamoros shut down the Gateway International bridge in Brownsville.
It happened around 3pm on Thursday afternoon and Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio says gun shot blasts could be heard coming from Matamoros close to the bridge. Officers shut the bridge to traffic and pedestrians for about twenty minutes after the shots were fired. Shortly after that the bridge re-opened and authorities do not know if the shooting in Matamoros is related to the shootings in Reynosa.
