WESLACO, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Homicide investigators with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office are looking for at least four suspects in the deadly drive-by shooting that happened in Weslaco earlier this week.
Deputies responded to shots fired at a home on the 2400 block of Melissa Avenue just after 11 o'clock on Wednesday night.
Upon arrival at the scene, deputies discovered two male victims deceased and three additional victims injured from multiple gunshot wounds.
The two victims who died are identified as 21-year-old David Zamorano and his brother, 34-year-old Michael Zamorano of Weslaco. The cause of death is determined to be from multiple gun shot wounds.
At this time, the names of the other injured victims are not being released at this time for their safety. Interim sheriff Eddie Guerra says all three men are expected to recover from their injuries.
Investigators have learned that two vehicles drove up to the house, and at least four suspects armed with firearms got out of the vehicles and fired multiple shots.
Guerra said the suspects were dressed in "tactical type" clothing, wearing camoflauge and ski masks during the shooting.
One of those vehicles involved is said to be a maroon Cadillac.
"Later on that night we discovered a burned maroon cadillac passenger vehicle about two miles north of the crime scene," explained Guerra. "We believe that vehicle is one of the vehicles that was used in this drive by shooting."
The second suspect vehicle is a red Ford Mustang--however, investigators do not have the license plate number or any other identifiers for that car.
Authorities found multiple calibers of bullet casings at the crime scene. No word on exact types of weapons used at this time.
The Texas Rangers along with DPS and ATD are assisting the HSCO investigators in this case.
