BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Judge Cascos officially appointed Alex Dominguez as the County Commissioner of Precinct 2 at the Cameron County Courthouse today.
Dominguez says as commissioner, he plans to hold more town hall meetings to address local concerns.
One of the first issues Commissioner Dominguez wants to tackle is paving the streets as the storm season approaches.
He says one of his greatest challenges will be working with the pressure of a limited budget, but he hopes to find outside sources to provide support for Cameron County.
"I think the first thing that we're going to do is address any outstanding projects that were in place for this precinct," Commissioner Dominguez. "If they seem likely to be beneficial then we'll finish those. Anytime that we're not paying attention to our constituents...that's the first way and probably the best way to get voted out of the office. What matters here is people have trust in me and I want to go and show them that that trust is well earned."
Dominguez will serve until January, at which point he is expected to serve a four-year term as a county commissioner.
