We continue to report on the border violence in Reynosa where one person died in a shootout which Mexican authorities are calling the incident relatively mild compared to Tuesday's shooting.
An official death toll has not been released and according to Mexican police, ten people died while the Tamaulipas Public Federal Ministries is reporting a death toll of seven. Among those, six are suspected hitmen involved in organized crime and this marks the third incident in the city within the past month.
The attack occurred near Plaza Real west of downtown Reynosa and reports indicate four federal agents were injured. The shoot out on Reynosa streets lasted about four hours and involved the use of automatic weapons, grenades and bazookas between armed gunmen and Mexican authorities.
At the same time, protesters shut down three international bridges across the Valley claiming the Mexican army is abusing their power.
