A sheriff deputy opened fire on a Valley driver who according to the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department, attempted to run him over.
In Donna around 7:45 Monday evening, a pick-up truck loaded with linoleum sheets was pulled over by sheriff deputies. The sheets were a potential safety hazard since the sheets were flopping around and when the deputies asked the driver to pull over the driver refused. The driver then attempted to run the deputy over who in response shot at the truck several times.
The bullet struck the truck but the man took off and led deputies on a short car chase that ended with deputies finding the abandoned at the intersection of Sioux and Tower road in Alamo. Hidalgo sheriff's say they know who they are searching for and when they arrest that individual he will charged with aggravated assault.
