BROWNSVILLE, TX — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge apprehended a man on an active arrest warrant for sexual assault from San Benito, Texas.
“A CBP officer’s primary checks identified Onorio Ramos as a wanted person. This wanted fugitive will face pending charges in Cameron County in large part thanks to the outstanding attentiveness of our frontline CBP officers," said Adriana Gonzalez, CBP Acting Port Director, Brownsville Port of Entry.
On Sunday, April 27 a CBP officer’s query on primary at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge resulted in a referral of a man identified as Onorio Ramos, 42, a previously deported Mexican citizen who resides in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico for a secondary examination. A CBP officer’s secondary checks revealed a possible active warrant for sexual assault for Onorio Ramos. CBP officers confirmed the active warrant for Onorio Ramos with pending charges related to a case from the San Benito, Texas Police Department for sexual assault. CBP officers arrested Onorio Ramos and subsequently turned him over to the custody of the San Benito, Texas Police Department. Onorio Ramos was transported to the city jail and will face pending charges.
