The moment finally came for the thousands of Catholics anticipated the moment to give a warm welcome to Bishop Flores at the Bascilica of Our Lady of San Juan Del Valle.
The beginning of a new era was filled with faithful followers looked on and greeted the new Bishop during his Installation Mass. Pope Benedict 16th appointed the Texas native to the Diocese of Brownsville in December when former Diocese Bishop Raymundo Pena announced his retirement after 35 years of service.
Flores is 48 years-old and is recognized as one of the youngest Bishop's in the nation. Bishop Flores says he hopes to focus on bringing a young generation of followers back to the church, strengthening the family unit and increasing Sunday mass attendance numbers.
