More than 80 disadvantaged horses went on the auction block in Mercedes.
The auction began on Friday morning at the Rio Grande Livestock Arena in Mercedes. Some of the horses have been in the wild and is sponsored by the Wild Mustang and Burro Program and are trying to place these horses in good homes. In some cases they are offering prospective owners up to $500 dollars if they adopt a horse four years of age or older. The auction will continue on Saturday at noon.
