A Cameron county judge sentenced an elderly man to eight years in prison for scamming people out of thousands of dollars.
The District Attorney's office says 77 year-old George Castillo was operating a home moving business, but was taking customer's money without following through with the work. Castillo pleaded guilty to theft in 2009 and was ordered to pay back more than $100,000 dollars to his victims throughout the next ten years. When he failed to make a single restitution payment and scammed another victim the D.A.'s office decided to seek a tougher punishment.
