One man is dead after arguing with his brother about using the bathroom.
The murder officially marks the first homicide in the county of Hidalgo, but what makes this story more bizarre is that an argument between brothers ended with one pulling out a gun and shooting and killing his brother.
Yellow tape surrounded the home on North Inspiration road after a family argument turned deadly early Tuesday morning. County deputies arrived around 7:30 a.m., after 22 year-old Jeremiah Hooper argued with his younger brother over the usage of a restroom. According to the police report, other family members got involved in the argument and tried to separate the brothers. The younger brother pulled out a revolver and shot Hooper in the neck. The victim's mother, who is a detention officer, rushed her son to the hospital where he underwent surgery, but did not survive.
The younger brother was arrested at the hospital and taken into custody by Mission police. County investigators spent much of the morning going over the crime scene and questioning family members officials did find the murder weapon in the home.
Sheriff Lupe Trevino plans to relocate Hooper's mother from the county jail to avoid preferential treatment for her son.
