A man, who police say was shot in the neck by a 11 year-old boy, faced a judge on Friday, Daisy Martinez has more.
Jose Luis Ortega is accused of invading a home on January 15th and shot at the boy, who was defending his mother. Ortega was released from Brooks Medical Center in San Antonio and brought back to the Valley to face charges. He was charged with attempted capital murder and aggravated robbery. Two other suspects tied to the crime, Jamie Arturo Santana Vasquez and Fernando Guerrero Padilla, were arrested and charged.
Police say the 11 year-old boy and his mother were in bed when the three armed men broke into the home. Both mother and son locked themselves inside the bedroom and refused to open the door. That's when Ortega shot at the door striking the boy in the hip and the boy shot back hitting Ortega in the neck.
