HARLINGEN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Texas State Technical College hosted its annual Spring Break Hookup Event today.
Hundreds of students participated in the afternoon event, where volunteers hosted different stations to teach students about spring break safety.
Some of the activities included a bicycle ride, where students put on "drunk goggles" to simulate driving a vehicle while inebriated.
TSTC also aimed to get students more informed on sex education ,so they had vocational nurses and games promoting safe sex.
"If you're willing to learn, these are really good activities because they teach you 'hey, this is what drunk driving's like, don't do it', uh, STD awareness, you know, everything like that. It's really educational to anybody, and it's really good," said TSTC student Chelsea DeBrooke.
TSTC also toured more than 1,000 high schoolers from schools around the Valley.
