HARLINGEN, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — Two Harlingen men were arrested for public intoxication after the responding officer determined that both were a danger to the public and themselves.
On Friday, February 14th at around 3:30 a.m. police were called to the 200 block of East Grimes in reference to a disturbance.
As the officer arrived to the location he made contact with two men, later identified as Fernando Martinez, 23, and Brandon Echavarria, 19, who were both highly intoxicated, had red blood shot eyes and slurred speech.
Witnesses stated that both men had been arguing and attempted to force open their neighbors door and had broken a window to an apartment.
Both were arrested for public intoxication and taken to jail where it was discovered that Martinez had .5 grams of a white powdery substance in his front right pocket.
Martinez was charged with possession of a controlled substance, public intoxication and handed a $5,000 bond, Echavarria was charged with public intoxication and fined $339 dollars.
